The York County Astronomical Society has set the dates for the 2009 Mason-Dixon Star Parties! (Yes, that's right! Star Parties!). We have listened to your comments and suggestions and have decided to host two star parties in 2009.
MDSP - Summer
The Summer MDSP will be held Friday, July 24th through Sunday, July 26th. You will have the option to arrive beginning Wednesday, July 22nd at noon for additional observing nights. This will be a NO-FRILLS star party. There will be no guest speakers and no raffle. Just a few days of camaraderie with our friends and observing at night. The pool will be open to take care of those hot July afternoons.
MDSP - Fall
The Fall MDSP will be held Friday, October 16th through Sunday, October 18th. Again, you will have the option of arriving beginning Wednesday, October 14th at noon for additional nights of observing. This will be the TRADITIONAL MDSP, with guest speakers, vendors, and our popular raffle.
Other Changes for 2009
WATCH THIS SPACE FOR MORE INFORMATION IN THE SPRING
The 20th Annual Mason Dixon Star Party is a fun event for all members of the family. This location offers a large and level camping and observing area with unlimited space for attendees in southern York country, with reasonably dark skies. This event will also bracket a new moon to provide optimal observing.
This is a fun filled Star Party geared for everyone! The Fall MDSP will
feature speakers, vendors, and raffle prizes for all ages. We
also have camping areas, food, showers and facilities, horse
shoe pits, sand volley ball courts and a swimming pool too!
